Spanish Levels

Bright Spanish Institute courses follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, as well as the guidelines of the Instituto Cervantes.
A1
Elementary
Absolute beginners and students who have no previous knowledge of Spanish start at this level. In this level, you will become familiar with the language, learning to understand and speak basic phrases.
A2
Pre intermediate
In this level, you will improve your comprehension and use of simple phrases and structures. You will also get a better knowledge of Spanish grammar.
B1
Intermediate
At a B1 level, you will start to communicate and express yourself in Spanish. Your oral and written expression and comprehension will improve greatly.
B2
Upper intermediate
At a B2 level, communication will be more fluid and with increasingly more resources. You will be able to discuss and express yourself in Spanish, as well as increase your vocabulary repertoire, knowledge of grammar rules and comprehension abilities.
C1
Advanced
When you reach a C1 level, you will have control over the language and a good ability to communicate and understand the majority of written text with ease. You will be working on refining your oral and written expression.
C2
Proficiency /Mastery

1. Can you explain the level system?

Bright Spanish Institute uses the European Framework (CEFR) and has 6 levels

1 - A1: Elementary
2 - A2: Pre intermediate
3 - B1: Intermediate
4 - B2: Upper intermediate
5 - C1: Advanced
6 - C2: Proficiency

2. What does the adult 6-monthly pack consist of?

48 classes (50-min classes) individual or 2- to- 1 (2 students)

*Groups of 2 students must apply as a pair.
Material for the class consists of a student’s book and a workbook for homework.
Digital course valid for 1 year which is extra reading, listening material that the student can take advantage of between classes.

3. How long is each class?

50 minutes.

4. What if I miss a class?

As long as you cancel your class with at least 12 hours’ notice you will be able to reschedule the class without losing it. In the case of 2- to-1 classes (2 students) both students have to be in agreement with the cancellation.

5. Do I get a certificate acknowledging my level?

Certificates will be issued after finishing A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels.

6. What are the official Spanish exams which are internationally recognized.

The 2 exams which are internationally recognized are the DELE and the SIELE exams.
The DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) is the official diploma of Spanish language learning for the Cervantes Institute which is recognized around the world and is well respected in the spheres of education and businesses alike. The levels are A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.
The SIELE exam is an official diploma which certifies your level of Spanish. This exam can be taken online whereas the DELE must be taken in an institute recognized by the Cervantes Institute.

7. Will I be able to prepare for the DELE and /or the SIELE exams?

Of course, our very experienced teachers some of whom are Cervantes examiners will be able to prepare you for these exams.

8. What do I need to be able to participate in a virtual learning class?

The classes are via Zoom; therefore, you will need a good internet connection, a PC, tablet or smartphone to be able to download Zoom.
A quiet place, to be able to give your full attention to the class.

9. Is there a program for each level?

Yes, there is a program and specific objectives for every level. This will be sent to you at the beginning of each level.

The 4 basic skills are covered in the classes, listening, reading, speaking and writing (for homework), as well as vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Emphasis is given to communication and the classes are practical.

For Kids & Teens

1. Why study Spanish with Bright Spanish Institute?

This is a unique personalized course for kids and teens. The classes are structured but at the same time are entertaining, enjoyable and practical.

  • Structured classes: Reading, listening, speaking skills are emphasized as well as correct pronunciation from the word go. Writing exercises will be given for homework. Each level has an objective and a programme to help you reach your goals.
  • Fun classes: Besides the fundamental skills required to learn a new language, we endeavor to make our classes fun by adding songs, games and extra activities to keep our young students happy and motivated and looking forward to their classes. We also aim to empower students to be able to put into practice what they have learnt in class.
